....And I'm back!!!

Hi there!!!!  Once again it has been WAY too long since I've written.....!!

Since you last heard from me, I finished my Paleo Challenge with my local Box on March 1st! YAY!!!! I didn't come in the top 3, however I did find out that I came in fourth!!!!  Which blew my mind since I have been nursing a shoulder injury for just over a month now....
I didn't realize how much having this injury would affect my mental state!!!!

So my results for those of you that are interested in how I did numbers wise on my Paleo Challenge.....:) Total inches lost 8.5.... Lost 8 lbs and almost 2 pant sizes!!!!  I was STOKED!! But i feel like i have lost ALOT of the strength that I had in my upper body over the last month since I literally couldn't lift ANYTHING above my head because of my shoulder.... I didn't realize how much of our WOD's incorporate upper body work on a daily basis!! Luckily I have FABULOUS coaches and they worked to come up with modifications or completely new workouts for me when I couldn't do the one that everyone else was doing... But, the rehab is going great and over the last week I have been able to actually lift some weight over my head...Not what I could do, but this is progress.... And I have a Warrior Dash to participate in in a couple weeks and then my first local Crossfit competition in a month!!!  My nerves are starting to set in for my first competition, especially since we have no idea what kind of WOD's we're going to be doing!!!!

Other than that, not a whole lot of interesting stuff going on around here, unfortunately!!! REALLY ready for some warmer weather though.... Our weather here is a bit confused....:)

Til next time!!!! Stay healthy and have fun everyone!!!!

More Snow on the way.....

Well...... it took me almost 2 hours to get home from work this afternoon because of the weather!!!! Below is what my drive home looked like!!!

So needless to say tonight's WOD is gonna be created in the convenience of my house!! Not venturing back out into this craziness!!!
Update on my Paleo Challenge status.... We are into week 6 of our 8 week challenge... Loving the changes that I'm seeing in myself!!!! So far i have lost 7 pounds and almost 2 pants sizes!!!!  Our nasty upcoming weather is going to make for some creative WOD's for doing at home!!!

This is just a quick post today :) Hope everyone is doing something healthy and productive today!!!!

SNOW!!!!!

Ahhhh.... Man do I love snow!!! Sure glad that we finally got a good snow up here in the mountains!!!! Yes, I had to make a snow angel... :)

I had to do an impromptu WOD at home yesterday due to the weather and none of us able to get to our box...

  3 Rounds:

  • 30 seconds jumping jacks
  • 10 kettlebell clean & press (each arm)
  • 10 push ups
  • 45 sec plank
  • 10 weighted lunges(total)
  • 10 burpees
Made a great Paleo dessert last night too!!! Banana "ice cream"!! Soooo yummy!! Below is what I put in it... I have no idea the measurements, so just do a trial and error to see what works for you!!!
  • 1 frozen banana
  • unsweetened cocoa powder
  • unsweetened coconut milk
  • honey or maple syrup
  • vanilla
mix all ingredients together in a blender/mixer until it looks like the consistency of frozen yogurt.... You could also put in other frozen fruits to make different flavors as well.. :)

Enjoy and stay safe and warm!!

Long time......

Ok, so I have to start out with an apology.....:( I kinda fell off the planet for a while!!! Since I've been away lots of things have changed in my world!! Just bear with me for this post... Might be a wee bit long and drawn out... :)

I am officially a Crossfit addict!!! I sucked it up and joined one of my local boxes here!! And fell head over heals in love with it!! I started with their On Ramp sessions in November and then started the real deal in December... I have lost 10 pounds since I started in November and feel the best i have ever felt!!!

I strongly suggest to everyone that this year you try new things that push you, emotionally, physically, mentally.... You will surprise yourself!!!

I apparently am a gluten for punishment because I dove in headfirst to several things this year that I never thought I would do!!!!.....
      1) 8 week Paleo Challenge- Whew buddy.... We finished week 3 this week and still plugging thru it!!! I have lost 5 of those 10 lbs in the last 2 1/2 weeks!! turns out I really don't need all that bread, rice, cheese, dairy, sweets, and anything processed!!! I am learning all kinds of new ways to cook and new things to replace those items I can't eat with....Tricky sometimes...I sure do miss my ice cream....:(
      2) Registered for my first true 5K in June!!! think i will be ok, but still a little nervous about it since i'm not the world's best runner....
      3) Participating in my second Warrior Dash in April!! Love these!!!
      4) Got talked into a Crossfit semi competition, River Ruckus, locally.... YIKES!!! I will be in a scaled team with our box... Rx was not happening!!! This is an all day affair that consists of 3 WOD's... EEEK!!! and this one is two weeks after I finish the Warrior Dash! I'm beginning to think i'm a small bit crazy!!!

I will posting the Paleo recipes here to periodically so feel free to try them out!!! Just a little pic below of my new tank that i got!!! :)

I promise I won't fall off the planet again :)

Stay focused, eat healthy, and lift heavy!!

First for me...

Well.... I had my first Crossfit malfunction.....:) Don't worry, it was not too terribly bad... :) I made it almost 6 months of my workouts without getting hurt!

The box jump got the best of me last week... I was at the end of a really good workout and I had decided that I wanted to get in a couple sets of box jumps before I headed home... I debated a little whether to do them, but decided I needed to, so I pulled out the box and got set up to start...

Needless to say I didn't get too far in the jumps... I should have listened to my gut to not do them that particular day! I made the first jump and my foot caught the front lip of the box and I came crashing into the box, square on my shin and then landed on my arm as I threw my arms in front of me on the box so I didn't plow my face into it!!! Holy cow what pain!!!! Luckily I was on campus at the university and limped myself across the football field to my better half to have him fix me..... He just shook his head and went and got two bags of ice and put me on the training table with the bags attached to my shin and knee...

Now that I'm feeling not quite so sore, I need to get back on that box... :) I will admit though, its gonna be a big mental challenge at first.... I'm willing to bet that everyone of us that has ventured into the Crossfit life has at least one malfunction happen to them!! :)

Stay healthy and fit and get back onto that Box!!!

New Addition to our Family!!

Ok, so this post has absolutely nothing to do with fitness or healthy eating :)

We recently added a third member to our family!! :) Her name is Zeli and she is a 4 month old American Bulldog puppy!!!

We have been having a blast with this new pooch!!!  Right now as i sit here on a cool mountain morning, on our porch writing, she is wrapping herself around my chair and eating every stick, acorn, and leaf she can find!!!

I have always been an animal lover and have owned several dogs over many years, but I hadn't had one in over six years and now I remember why they are such wonderful companions!!! Its awesome to come home every day to have Zeli genuinely excited to see you!!! She is by far one of the most loving, sweetest puppies I have ever had!! All she wants to do is be right next to us at all times!!  Which is going to prove to be quite interesting when she gets to be 75-100 lbs and still thinks she's a lap dog!!!

There has always been something said about owning a pet that makes us humans more happy, less stressed, and generally better individuals.  I completely agree with that!!!

So go adopt from a shelter, humane society or where ever and find a new addition to your family!!!

Been a while....

Have you ever had one of those where you turn around and you think..."Where in the world did the time go???"... Well, I've had a couple of those weeks, and here it is August already!!! Where did the summer go??? I know that it's been a while since I last wrote, so my deepest apologies there :) I know everyone was holding their breathe waiting on my next post!! :) (hint of my delightful sense of sarcasm there...)

I have been eyeball deep in a new job that I am thoroughly enjoying as a legal assistant :) I'm having to do a sort of re org of my workout schedule though... which has proved to be a bit tricky... I missed about a week or so of my workout, which made me feel absolutely gross!! I didn't realize how much I missed my workouts and how much those workouts benefit other parts of my life as well!!  I managed to get 3 days in this week and I'm planning on some sort of workout this weekend too... Having to dig out my motivation again... I apparently fell off the workout wagon there for a bit...

How do y'all get yourself back into the swing of things when things go wonky?.....

I had to join a fitness center near my work this week to keep myself into my workouts... I'm losing my workout location due to massive numbers of college athletes coming back into town for the fall :) Not biggie though, as I have found a couple new workout buddies!!! I desperately wanted to join one of our local Box's but right now the budget won't allow that steep a "gym" membership.... Oh well.. :) Now I just get to be creative with my workouts! No sweat!! (well hopefully, lots of sweat...)

In addition to all my normal craziness, I'm trying to figure out how to dive into a near area of my photography business to try and take on some more business :)

Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend and remember to keep yourself motivated!!! The outcome is SOOO worth it!!!!
