New Year, New me...

Ok... so I know that its been a LOOONG time since I've posted... :( I will try and not make this crazy long, I promise ;)

Updates on me.... I got married in June in Mexico!!!! Beautiful place! We had a small beach ceremony with family and friends :) Here's a few pics for you.....

On the health and fitness side of things.... I am in week 2 of a new workout schedule..EEEEK!!!! Its kicking my tail and I love it!!! Getting stronger and more healthy this year!! My biggest struggle is keeping my healthy eating under control..:( Sometimes that pizza just calls my name and I have to give in! I have been reading some really interesting fellow female bloggers and wanted to weigh in a bit on a topic that I think is near and dear to a lot of women that are into being fit and strong... I think that there is a lot of pressure that in order to be strong and fit we have to all be lean and small in size, but with all these muscles.. Well, guess what?? Most of us do not look like that... As much as I would love to even remotely look like Christmas Abbott or Camille, its just not in the cards for me.. I'm not a woman of small stature by any stretch of the imagination and I have had to come to the understanding with myself that I will NEVER be... And guess what? Thats OK!!! I know i'm strong, getting stronger, fit and getting more fit regardless of what size pants I wear. I deadlift, clean, snatch, bench press, and do pushups.... And I'm proud of it!! Ladies, be proud of your strength and be proud of YOU whether you're 5'4 165 lbs or 5'8 and 140 lbs or any size at all!

Until next time!!

A great find!!!

Hi guys!!! My apologies that it has been SOOO long since I've posted!! I still am going full force with my Crossfit and still doing my Paleo about 80% of the time...:) I came across this blog post this morning from http://fullofgraceandgreens.blogspot.com/, written by Aubrey!! I wanted to share her post here...

I think what she writes about is so very true, in Crossfit, but also in whatever fitness/sport that people are involved in... I have blogged about this briefly in the past, but thought that Aubrey hit the nail on the head and wanted to share her writings! Check out her blog as well!!!

....And I'm back!!!

Hi there!!!!  Once again it has been WAY too long since I've written.....!!

Since you last heard from me, I finished my Paleo Challenge with my local Box on March 1st! YAY!!!! I didn't come in the top 3, however I did find out that I came in fourth!!!!  Which blew my mind since I have been nursing a shoulder injury for just over a month now....
I didn't realize how much having this injury would affect my mental state!!!!

So my results for those of you that are interested in how I did numbers wise on my Paleo Challenge.....:) Total inches lost 8.5.... Lost 8 lbs and almost 2 pant sizes!!!!  I was STOKED!! But i feel like i have lost ALOT of the strength that I had in my upper body over the last month since I literally couldn't lift ANYTHING above my head because of my shoulder.... I didn't realize how much of our WOD's incorporate upper body work on a daily basis!! Luckily I have FABULOUS coaches and they worked to come up with modifications or completely new workouts for me when I couldn't do the one that everyone else was doing... But, the rehab is going great and over the last week I have been able to actually lift some weight over my head...Not what I could do, but this is progress.... And I have a Warrior Dash to participate in in a couple weeks and then my first local Crossfit competition in a month!!!  My nerves are starting to set in for my first competition, especially since we have no idea what kind of WOD's we're going to be doing!!!!

Other than that, not a whole lot of interesting stuff going on around here, unfortunately!!! REALLY ready for some warmer weather though.... Our weather here is a bit confused....:)

Til next time!!!! Stay healthy and have fun everyone!!!!

More Snow on the way.....

Well...... it took me almost 2 hours to get home from work this afternoon because of the weather!!!! Below is what my drive home looked like!!!

So needless to say tonight's WOD is gonna be created in the convenience of my house!! Not venturing back out into this craziness!!!
Update on my Paleo Challenge status.... We are into week 6 of our 8 week challenge... Loving the changes that I'm seeing in myself!!!! So far i have lost 7 pounds and almost 2 pants sizes!!!!  Our nasty upcoming weather is going to make for some creative WOD's for doing at home!!!

This is just a quick post today :) Hope everyone is doing something healthy and productive today!!!!

SNOW!!!!!

Ahhhh.... Man do I love snow!!! Sure glad that we finally got a good snow up here in the mountains!!!! Yes, I had to make a snow angel... :)

I had to do an impromptu WOD at home yesterday due to the weather and none of us able to get to our box...

  3 Rounds:

  • 30 seconds jumping jacks
  • 10 kettlebell clean & press (each arm)
  • 10 push ups
  • 45 sec plank
  • 10 weighted lunges(total)
  • 10 burpees
Made a great Paleo dessert last night too!!! Banana "ice cream"!! Soooo yummy!! Below is what I put in it... I have no idea the measurements, so just do a trial and error to see what works for you!!!
  • 1 frozen banana
  • unsweetened cocoa powder
  • unsweetened coconut milk
  • honey or maple syrup
  • vanilla
mix all ingredients together in a blender/mixer until it looks like the consistency of frozen yogurt.... You could also put in other frozen fruits to make different flavors as well.. :)

Enjoy and stay safe and warm!!

Long time......

Ok, so I have to start out with an apology.....:( I kinda fell off the planet for a while!!! Since I've been away lots of things have changed in my world!! Just bear with me for this post... Might be a wee bit long and drawn out... :)

I am officially a Crossfit addict!!! I sucked it up and joined one of my local boxes here!! And fell head over heals in love with it!! I started with their On Ramp sessions in November and then started the real deal in December... I have lost 10 pounds since I started in November and feel the best i have ever felt!!!

I strongly suggest to everyone that this year you try new things that push you, emotionally, physically, mentally.... You will surprise yourself!!!

I apparently am a gluten for punishment because I dove in headfirst to several things this year that I never thought I would do!!!!.....
      1) 8 week Paleo Challenge- Whew buddy.... We finished week 3 this week and still plugging thru it!!! I have lost 5 of those 10 lbs in the last 2 1/2 weeks!! turns out I really don't need all that bread, rice, cheese, dairy, sweets, and anything processed!!! I am learning all kinds of new ways to cook and new things to replace those items I can't eat with....Tricky sometimes...I sure do miss my ice cream....:(
      2) Registered for my first true 5K in June!!! think i will be ok, but still a little nervous about it since i'm not the world's best runner....
      3) Participating in my second Warrior Dash in April!! Love these!!!
      4) Got talked into a Crossfit semi competition, River Ruckus, locally.... YIKES!!! I will be in a scaled team with our box... Rx was not happening!!! This is an all day affair that consists of 3 WOD's... EEEK!!! and this one is two weeks after I finish the Warrior Dash! I'm beginning to think i'm a small bit crazy!!!

I will posting the Paleo recipes here to periodically so feel free to try them out!!! Just a little pic below of my new tank that i got!!! :)

I promise I won't fall off the planet again :)

Stay focused, eat healthy, and lift heavy!!
